Travelling to Europe just with carry on

Here’s my challenge:

  • 32 days

  • 5 locations across two nations

  • 7kg maximum allowance for carry on, plus a small day bag

Can I do it??

Well the answer is yes, I actually did it yesterday, and my luggage actually came in under the required minimum weight. However the real question is, will I regret it? At this stage, I don’t think so. I’m fortunate in that I’m not attending a formal event or going to a conference. Yes, I will be doing work related things, but not client facing. That definitely takes the pressure off.

Over a series of posts I will report on how I’m going, what I packed and why. I put considerable thought into this (and let’s face it, advising on clothes and wardrobes is what I do!) so I think I’ll be ok. It doesn’t mean I won’t be bored with my outfits but I enjoy the challenge.

My first noticeable gap is I don’t have something like slippers to wear in my hotel room. I thought I had this covered because I was expecting slippers onboard from Singapore Airlines that I thought would see me through. I did receive them but they were a joke; about five times my shoe size and made of paper. They wouldn’t even stay on my feet while I was sitting down and I wasn’t convinced I wouldn’t trip over in them walking in the aisle to the bathroom! Utterly useless. And infuriating.

Stay tuned for outfit images and potentially amusing sartorial revelations!

Waiting to board alongside my carry on luggage. I’ve included my foot in the photo so you can see the relative size of my case and day bag.
